Do I need preventative health in the COVID pandemic?

A question I am being asked all the time is "Do I really need to get my blood test/Bowel cancer screening/pap test/mammogram done whilst we are in the COVID pandemic?" Or a closely related "Is it safe to do that now"

The short version is that the Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners, the Australian Medical Association and many other medical organisations in Australia have all come out and advocated for Australians to conitnue getting their preventative health checks done despite the pandemic. The risk of missing a treatable disease at this time outweighs the risks related to the pandemic.

Importantly at all locations I consult at we have strict social distancing rules in force and at all times of patient contact a respirator is worn. In addition only patients that absolutely must be brought into the clinic to reduce the risk of cross-contamination between patients visiting the clinic.

As always if you have any questions drop me a line ask@drmoz.com.au or book in a telehealth appointment
